The 99,600-square-foot center is scheduled to open to the public on Feb. 11. The specific time depends on a final state inspection, according to a news release from the health system.

The campus on Furman L. Fendley Highway in Union, across from the Union Industrial Park, will enhance the patient experience and consolidate physician offices under one roof, the release stated.

“This new facility represents Spartanburg Regional’s ongoing commitment to provide exceptional care and services to families in Union County,” Paul Newhouse, president of Union Medical Center, said in the release. “This state-of-the-art building is a symbol of the years of hard work and dedication of so many people. We are thrilled to see the health and wellness of Union County improve through the services this new hospital will provide for generations to come.”

Other features of the new hospital include the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health, emergency care, Gibbs Cancer Center infusion services, imaging services, inpatient care, lab, outpatient services, primary and pediatric care and an inpatient pharmacy.

“This incredible new hospital is creating a sustainable model for rural health care, while also furthering Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s mission to advance health together,” said Phil Feisal, executive vice president and system chief operating officer – hospital group.

Plans for the Union hospital were announced in February 2023.
